Post Box. Some were inspired by the design work that the St Charles
Primary pupils did with the artist Julia Smith, creating strange composite
clay creatures drawn from the wildlife and plant life found in the gardens.
The work by pupils from Willowbank Primary came out of a poetry writing
session they did with Glasgow based poet Gerry Loose.
The Tall Tale of Tiny Tails What did you see? Wet baby watermelon whale Whacking up massive waves. Lemon shaped lion Licking all the limes Grape giraffe Playing with his long, wobbly neck A weak wheat wolf An onion owl flying... Hunting for a mango mouse Father banana bear barking deafeningly... Moaning over his bulging chocolate filled stomach Baby cucumber cow sobbing quietly in the corner Lonely Buffalo banana banging on the basement wall Left out A squishy strawberry scorpion sucking sour spiders Through his stinging tail A massive potato panther preying on battered fish An enormous apple ape Fiercely attacking ancient ants A million regenerative rice rhinos Riding red unicycles on a tight rope And... Titanic tomato tigers Plodding towards terrified teachers! by the pupils of Willowbank Primary * * * * I see prickily jags on this plant, I am fascinated by how it works, It is weird and complex, I think it is marvellous. It is the size of a lorry. It is dark green and midnight black, all year long. I liked it so much I named it Jaggow. All his energy is draining. He stands with all his might At the same place day and night, He is as tall as a man With an unlimited life span, He is black, orange and blue But he doesn't have a clue. by Ikra, Julenda, Shilan, Tony (St Charles Primary School) * * * *
Last Night In The Park I Saw Last night in the park i saw A crocodile with a wonky jaw I asked him if he was ok, He answered "yes, now I'm going to a play." Last night in the park I saw A man telling someone about the law, Hesaid it was great, that he should give it a go. Only then did I realise he was talking to a Crow. Last night in the park i saw A squirrel with a broken paw I asked what happened, I really did, But then he ran away and hid. Last night in the park I saw A boy crying "caw caw caw", He looked upset, a little scared But then he smiled and looked as if he cared. By Flora Robinson-Ennis (Hyndland Primary School) |
